Review request messages that work

Updated

A review request that works is short, personal and easy to act on: thank the guest by name, mention one real thing from their stay, ask for an honest review, and send the link. Send it on checkout day, ideally after asking how the stay went, and follow up once or twice before Airbnb's 14-day review window closes.

This page is a collection of messages you can copy. For the full approach (timing, reviewing your guest first, voice notes), see how to get more Airbnb reviews.

What makes a review request work

Every message below follows the same five rules:

  1. The guest's name. Always.
  2. One real detail. "Glad the kids loved the pool" turns a template into a message.
  3. An honest review. Ask for their honest review, in their words.
  4. The link. One tap to the review form, or clear steps: open the Airbnb app, go to Trips, find the stay.
  5. Short. Three or four lines. Guests read it on their phone, often on the way home.

Step 1: Ask how the stay was

Start with a question. It opens a conversation, and the review ask that follows reads as a natural next step.

Hi {name}, thank you for staying with us at {home}! How was everything? Anything we could do better next time?

Step 2: The review request

After a happy reply

So glad you enjoyed it, {name}! If you have a minute, an honest review on Airbnb would mean a lot to us and helps other guests decide. Here's the link: {review link}

If they didn't reply

Send this a few hours later. Every guest gets asked.

Hi {name}, hope the journey home went well! If you have a minute, we'd love your honest review on Airbnb: {review link}. Thank you for staying with us!

When you've already reviewed them

Hi {name}, we've just left you a review on Airbnb. It was a pleasure hosting you! If you get a moment, we'd love to read yours too: {review link}

Voice note scripts

A short voice note on WhatsApp stands out from every automated message. Keep it to 20 or 30 seconds and say the guest's name.

Standard:

"Hi {name}, it's {your name} from {home}. Thank you so much for staying with us. If you get a minute, I'd really appreciate an honest review on Airbnb. I've sent you the link. Safe travels!"

Warm, for guests you got to know:

"Hi {name}! It was really lovely having you all. I hope {detail: the drive back / the flight} went well. If you have a moment, a review on Airbnb would mean a lot. The link's in the chat. Hope to see you again!"

Follow-ups that pick up where they left off

A reminder works best when it continues your last conversation instead of repeating the first message.

A few days later, after they replied:

Hi {name}, glad to hear {what they said}! Just a gentle reminder in case it slipped your mind: here's the review link. Thank you!

A few days later, no reply so far:

Hi {name}, hope you're settled back home! When you have a minute, we'd love to hear how your stay was: {review link}

They opened the link but didn't finish:

Hi {name}, looks like the review might not have gone through. Here's the link again in case it's easier: {review link}

Last note before day 14:

Hi {name}, a last quick note: Airbnb closes the review form in a couple of days. If you get a moment, we'd love to hear how it went. Thank you!

For how the window works, see Airbnb's 14-day review window, explained.

When something went wrong

If a guest had a problem during the stay, start with that. Say what you did about it, then ask for an honest review.

Hi {name}, thank you for staying with us, and thanks again for telling us about the {issue}. We've {what you did}, so the next guests won't have the same trouble. Sorry it affected your stay. If you'd like to share your honest feedback on Airbnb, we'd appreciate it: {review link}

A guest who sees you listened usually writes a fairer review than one who felt ignored. If the review is still critical, see how to reply to a bad Airbnb review.

A call, for the right guests

For a long stay, a family you got to know, or a guest who had a problem you fixed, a short friendly call can be the nicest reminder of all. Ask how the trip home was, thank them, and mention the review at the end, lightly.

Putting it together

A simple sequence for every stay:

When Message
Checkout day, a few hours after they leave "How was everything?"
After their reply (or a few hours later) The review request with the link, plus a voice note
A few days later A reminder that picks up where you left off
If they opened the link but didn't finish The link again
Around day 12 or 13 A last note before the window closes
As soon as they review "Thank you!" and no more reminders

How Prohostings helps

Prohostings sends this sequence on WhatsApp for every stay, in your words: the "how was it?" message, the review request with the direct link, your recorded voice note, and reminders that pick up where the guest left off. It tells you when a guest opened the link but didn't finish, and stops when they review or the window closes. See how many reviews you're missing with the free listing report.

FAQ

What should an Airbnb review request message say?

Thank the guest by name, mention one real detail from their stay, ask for an honest review, and include the link or exact steps. Three or four lines is enough.

When should I send the review request?

On checkout day, a few hours after the guest leaves. Ask how the stay went first, then send the review request.

Should I send it on WhatsApp or in Airbnb?

Where the guest reads messages. Many guests answer WhatsApp faster than the Airbnb app; if you're in touch there after the booking, send it there.

How many follow-ups should I send?

One or two reminders, and a last note before Airbnb's 14-day window closes. Stop as soon as the guest reviews.

Can I use the same message for every guest?

Use a template, but change one line each time: the guest's name and something from their stay. That's what makes it feel personal.
